Druzhba Park on Flotskaya Street is an important part of the Rechnoy Vokzal district. Over the years, the urban park became a familiar place for residents, yet gradually lost its coherence and relevance. The space had not been renovated for many years: pedestrian routes were fragmented, activity zones were disconnected, and their potential remained unrealized. What was required was not just new paving, but a comprehensive rethinking of the territory — its functions, its topography, and the everyday habits of its users.
The project is built on preserving what has already become part of the park’s identity — its paths, green areas, and natural relief. The architects introduced new movement routes, including an elevated promenade — a kind of “captain’s bridge” with views of the water and trees. Children’s and sports areas are evenly distributed across the site and unified by a shared theme and vivid accents. A variety of activities is provided for all age groups, from outdoor fitness equipment to quiet rest zones. Sculptures and small public spaces are added in a way that complements the landscape without overwhelming it.
Druzhba Park exemplifies a thoughtful and sensitive approach to urban public spaces. After its renewal, the park once again became an essential part of neighborhood life: a place for strolling along the pond, exercising, or meeting with friends. The landscaping did not alter the natural foundation, but emphasized it — carefully introducing new elements into a familiar environment.
